Beso del Viento is located at Playa Isla Palo Seco, in the municipality of Parrita, on the Pacific coast. Far from the bustle, but not from the world: San José international airport is about two hours’ drive away. Here are the different ways to reach us, and a few tips to make the journey part of the holiday.

Which airport should you fly into?

Aim for Juan Santamaría International Airport in San José (SJO), the closest to us. The country’s other international airport, in Liberia (LIR), is in the Guanacaste province in the north-west, and would mean a much longer journey.

By car: about two hours

A rental car gives you the most freedom, and lets you explore the region once you are here. From the airport, the route is straightforward:

  1. Take Route 27 towards Caldera (it is a toll road, so keep some change handy).
  2. Join coastal Route 34, the Costanera Sur, towards Jacó and then Parrita.
  3. In Parrita, follow the signs to Playa Palo Seco and on to the hotel.

A navigation app such as Waze or Google Maps will guide you easily: just search for “Beso del Viento”. Our Contact page also shows the map and directions.

Our driving tips. Try to arrive before dark: at this latitude the sun sets between 5:30 and 6:15 pm depending on the season. Stop at the Tárcoles River bridge to see the crocodiles, without leaving anything visible in the car. And allow some extra time: traffic leaving San José can be heavy.

Private transfer or taxi

The most relaxing option after a long flight: a driver meets you at the airport and drops you at the hotel. Allow about 150 dollars for a taxi from San José airport. Write to us with your flight number and we will gladly arrange your transfer.

By bus: the budget option

From the Tracopa bus terminal in San José, direct buses to Quepos stop in Parrita. Get off in Parrita, then take a taxi to the hotel for about 11 dollars. The trip takes longer than by car, but it is a lovely way to watch the country go by.

By plane to Quepos

Domestic flights link San José to the Quepos airstrip in around thirty minutes. A taxi then takes you to Playa Palo Seco. It is a quick option if you travel light, as small planes have strict baggage limits.

When you arrive

  • Times. Rooms are ready from 2 pm and should be vacated by 11:30 am. If you arrive earlier or leave later, let us know and we will do our best depending on availability.
  • Meals. Breakfast is included. The hotel no longer serves dinner, but there is a beach restaurant 800 metres away and plenty of places to eat in Parrita.
